Mariano Pietrini www.marianopietrini.com was born in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto on March 12th 1945. He obtained the secondary school diploma in 1964 specializing as a geometre. Afterwards, he graduated in 1970 at the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of Messina. He taught Applied Mathematics in technical institutions of the province and at the same time worked as a professional accountant. He grew up in one of the most ancient neighbourhoods of Barcellona spending his boyhood and youth through its streets and alleys in contact with a multitude of artisan shops. For years, he also played in the city’s soccer teams. His life was a continuos race made of playing and studying. For generations, his family was involved in the trade of citrus fruits. He married Gisella in 1973, who always stood and stands by him with love and support, and had three wonderful children: Ada, Veralisa and Nino.
He is an autodidact artist, a defender of the principle that man has infinite potentials when he emerges himself in “Light”; therefore, he was created conceiving the conceivable.
His artistic course was and is founded on the elaboration of thoughts transferred afterwards in art with the invention of new techniques taking advantage of the new technologies. Talking about Mariano means wanting to stop the inflamed Sirocco of his land. He defines himself as “Son of the wind”; whatever he thinks becomes soon after visual reality. His creative vision is rotative: from three dimensional painting colour on colour, to sculpture, to papier-mâché, to restoring works of art, to the preparation of a Park Museum, to the collection of fifteen thousand ethnographic objects. Everything he imagines, he realizes. Talking about his theories is like emerging oneself in a river storm, like trying to stop an echo or trying to follow the “Light” on the waves of Tyndaris’s Bay.
The main insights are: “order in disorder”, “the equation that error does not exist”, “the law on contrasts”, “the theory of beauty”.
The systematic study on energy found in stones, in nature and so forth have been a constant commitment. He can boast numerous art exhibitions, national and international sculptures, published books and is now working upon new texts concerning the energy found in stone, entitled: “The energetic universe of beauty”, “The memory of history” and “The infinite infinitely infinite universe of light” (the Light Pyramid). The soon to be published texts are simultaneously sculpted on the stones of the talking mountain of Jalari. Who is Mariano? You can capture his multiform creativity visiting the Park Museum. A mystique, philosophical, artistical, energetical journey, which he describes as “The talking mountain, the Light Pyramid of the third millennium”. The first visit usually lasts about three hours but, who ever enters in this wonderful reality remains forever fascinated. The Park Museum is the work of Mariano and his brother Salvatore (eminent artist and creator of the architectural world of Jalari). Usually, when Mariano speaks of his brother he says, “commonly from nothing you can conceive nothing, in Salvatore’s hands nothing becomes a masterpiece”. Although, Jalari is a sublime creation of a family, it involves twenty five people from sons and daughters to nieces and nephews. It is a large school of creativity and thought, involving seventy young people and is still in continuos growth. What can one say about Mariano, the talking mountain, or the dream of dreams? He loves his land with the strength and passion of its vulcanoes. He emerges himself in the inflamed sunsets of Tyndaris’s Bay to give “Light” to his essence. He is reborn and rediscovers the strength of the Warrior so he may continue to create, and dialogue with beauty, stones, the echo. The infinite talking stones of Jalari, that come from the streams of the Nebrode and Peloritan mountains, signify that they are only a small part of the creative potential strength of man when he emerges himself in “Light” and gives the dimension of the creative man named Mariano. We thank our friend Mariano for allowing us to see the conception of Beauty and we commit him to He that Is.
