Along the avenues of Jalari, the ethnographic shops keep
over 15,000 original finds (catalogued by the Arts Bureau
of Messina). All unique pieces that have found their original
place and beat the rhythm of history. Inside the stone houses,
the workshops become alive thanks to the tools put back
in the expert hands of those men and women who had had used
them. Hence, a library containing paper and audiovisual
documents on ethnography has been opened so that young students
may come and use them for theses, school and cultural research.
Jalari also holds a rich immaterial patrimony realized through
a complete collection of proverbs and annual folkloristic
events and festivals.
